With Christmas quickly approaching it is time that BohsandOs.com sends this year’s Baltimore Christmas list to Santa. We will try not to be too greedy this year because we know there are cities like Detroit and Cleveland that might be more deserving. We also the know the behavior of some of our citizens may be more deserving of coal, but here are a few things we would like to see under the tree and a few more that perhaps Santa, you could help us out with down the road.
First off we would like a brand new first baseman for our Orioles. Remember that first baseman that you got us last year, Garret Atkins… he was the equivalent of coal. You also gave us Ty Wiggington as a stocking stuffer, but this year we want a bright and shiny first baseman who can hit a few out to Eutaw Street. Now I know, it is hard to find good first baseman this close to Christmas because a lot of stores are out of stock, but I really don’t think an Adam Laroche would be asking too much. Boston got an Adrian Gonzales this year and there is no way those bandwagoners were not on the naughty list this year so we should be able to get an Adam Laroche.
We would also like a group of tickets to the Baltimore Grand Prix. I am still torn on this race because I would like to be in Bethany on Labor Day Weekend, but I don’t think I can miss this spectacle. I can’t picture how the seating is going to look, but some nice bleacher seats, where we can enjoy some BYOB Bohs, would be fine. A pair of earplugs would also be appreciated in our stockings. Also you might want to give a hand the City to make sure this race is actually going to happen. It seems they still have a lot of work to do to get Baltimore ready for her Grand Prix.
On the front of most Baltimorean’s minds would be a Ravens playoff berth. However, I think the Ravens can handle that one by themselves. Judging from my hundreds of different scenarios entered into the ESPN Playoff Machine over the past two weeks it will be hard for the Ravens to miss the playoffs. I have to give ESPN credit for the development of the Playoff Machine. I am not quick to give ESPN credit for anything, but this invention has killed plenty of hours at work and I will be slightly upset when the Ravens clinch a playoff berth this weekend and the machine loses most of its functionality for me. Instead of that playoff berth could you get us a Lombardi Trophy? It is not actually for us. It is for Ray Lewis who does not have too many years left in the league and he really deserves a second one.
When it comes to the Terps this year we are only going to ask for a NCAA Tournament berth. Anything more than that might be asking too much. We just want to be able to fill out one bracket with the Terps going all the way. With a 68 team field thus year, it should not be too hard to get the Terps in to at least make the first two days of the tournament exciting enough so we don’t feel guilty watching college basketball instead of working. A Military Bowl win would be nice as well, but if you could get us a Mike Leach that would be even better!
Santa, we know some of these wishes might be difficult, so hopefully Britney Spears singing my favorite Christmas song will help convince you.
